Ghost of the Spanish Senorita - Torquay Devon UK

Torre Abbey has been haunted by many souls over the long centuries but none as frequently seen as the ghost of the young Spanish Lady.

In 1588 when the Spanish Armada sailed into the sights of the superior English Fleet, Sir Francis Drake captured the ’Nuestra Senora del Rosario’ and her crew were taken and imprisoned in the Spanish Barn at Torre Abbey.

Among the prisoners was a young lieutenant and his fiancee. The young Senorita fell ill and died whilst imprisoned in the barn. Now, her sorrowful ghost is often seen wandering around the barn and through the Abbey’s meadows, sobbing for her lost love.
